CUP TIE GAMES NEXT SATURDAY

Next Saturday will be memorable in Pittsburg soccer circles, there being one Philadelphia and one Altoona team due to perform in the city on cup tie business. The latter team – Juniata Y. M. C. A. – will meet the District League leaders at Homestead in the second round of the West Penn cup, Pittsburg Rovers and Swissvale being similarly engaged at Lawrenceville. Braddock plays Bethlehem in t he second round N. S. A. F. A. tie.

Bethlehem is, without doubt, the strongest team in or around Philadelphia, its record last year in the first division Allied Amateur F. A. proving this, only one game having been lost, and this the final one of the competition. This year the Philadelphia cracks have an even better record, only last week defeating the Holyoke, (Mass.) team in an A. F. tie, which was but the second game lost by Holyoke in three years.

Braddock won the Pittsburgh District League last year with a record almost as fine as Bethlehem, and is at least no weaker this year.

Experts who are acquainted with Philadelphia soccer declare that Pittsburg has practically the same class of teams as the Quaker City, so, take the dope as a guide, the winner next Saturday is hard to select. Following is both teams’ record last season:
