League and Cup Champion
Fall River was the league champion and Boston the cup champion in American Soccer League doings last year. And it is understood that the American Soccer League is to promote another cup affair to climax the present season. With the same clubs again on friendly terms with the U. S. F. A., there will be the National Cup competition. That's three championships in soccer, which by the way is quite a liberal distribution. These title affairs, we presume, will again rank in importance, with the National Cup tie, involving clubs through the country, taking precedence; the league cup next and the league championship, which calls for the longest campaign, third. It seems foolish that the league should promote two title events in one season. However, it is the cup ties, with their one defeat and out, that seem most popular with the patrons. And quite popular as far as receipts are concerned.
