Calling Off Soccer Matches
Fall River was expected to make an invasion of this district today to meet Fleisher Yarn in Philadelphia, but again the breaks broke right for the National champion. A week ago the New Englanders were scheduled to meet Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem, after remaining over since New Year and the following day had a game schedule with Newark, but the heavy snow put a crimp to this program. For the game in Philadelphia today, Fall River was to rush to the home of the Quaker eleven and then pack up hurriedly and rush right back to Fall River to meet Indiana Flooring there tomorrow. As a result of the cancellation, the wear and tear experience by players by hurried traveling, will be eliminated and Fall River will be in a position to meet the invading New Yorkers in the best of condition. Bethlehem Steel cleared their field of snow and insisted that New Bedford, anxious also to cancel, keep their appointment in Bethlehem today. In Philadelphia no such labors were resorted to and with the playing field still covered with the so-called "beautiful" the game was canceled.
