"Delighted to Meet Fall River"
Sam Fletcher was credited with saying "Delighted to meet Fall River," when informed that his Providence club had drawn the National champions for the first round of the American Soccer League Club competition. Many followers of soccer and even some of Sam's most intimate friends were some what inclined to doubt the sincerity of that remark. However, the confidence of Fletcher is no doubt prevalent among the players he has gather around him and the result of their Sunday game will be a stimulating inspiration when they oppose the champs in the first round of the National Cup competition. Boston has been one of the few clubs in the league to annoy Fall River to any great extend and the Fletcherites taking on the Hubmen yesterday afternoon handed out one of the most humiliating defeats of the season. While Providence was crashing through Boston for a 5 to 1 victory, Fall River apparently had a lot of trouble in disposing of the New York Giants by the score of 1 to 0. The morale effect of these two games should apply in both extremes when the teams meet in the cup clash this weekend.
