EIGHT TEAMS BATTLE IN CUP TIE ROUND
Steelmen Oppose Brooklyn Wanderers on Hawthorne Field on Sunday Afternoon
AMERICAN CUP TIE REPLAY

Arrangements have been completed to replay the American Soccer League cup ties between the New York Giants and Newark and Bedford and Providence on Saturday, Feb. 4th.

The New York Giant-Newark replay will be decided on the grounds of the New York Nationals, Polo Grounds, New York City. This will mark the third game between these teams in the first round of the Lewis cup competition, each having registered a 1 to 0 victory in the home and home games played last week and at Starlight Park, New York and at David's Stadium, Newark.

In the event of the teams being deadlocked at the end of the regulation 90 minutes of play in this third engagement at the Polo Grounds, extra half hours will be played until a final decision is arrived at.

New Bedford and Providence will meet at Battery Park, New Bedford, in the second game of the series. The game played at New Bedford last Saturday was postponed after 59 minutes of play by Referee R. Carroll and was therefore declared a "no contest." The following day at Providence the Clamdiggers defeated the Whalers by the score of 2 to 1.

If necessary to determine the winner -- decided on the total number of goals scored in the two games -- extra time also will be played in this second game of the series.

Eight of the American League clubs will be engaged this weekend in the second round of the National Cup series. One game will be played Saturday, J & P Coats and Providence clashing at Pawtucket. The three Sunday games are: Fall River vs. Boston at Tiverton, R. I.; Brooklyn vs. Bethlehem, at Hawthorne Field, Brooklyn; and N. Y. Nationals vs. N. Y. Giants at the Polo Grounds, New York.

The second half of the American Soccer League schedule gets under way February 4th. Until the cup competitions are further advanced a full schedule of games to be played in this section of the league cannot be announced. Each team will be called upon to play 28 games with the two leading teams of each half engaging in a round robin series following the completion of the second half, sometime in May.
