Soccer Notes

At the present time it looks as though Paterson F. C. will be Bethlehem's most dangerous rival in the race for the National League pennant. Paterson lost one game, and that to the Steel Workers in the opening game of the league at Bethlehem in September.

If Bethlehem Steel is drawn against Merchant Ship Team A in the semi-final of the American Cup, the Steel Workers will find them stronger than ever. They are continually searching for new players with a view to strengthening their team. Only recently they signed up three star Canadian players, who will be eligible to play in the semi-final game.

Ferguson game a fine exhibition of finished football against the Merchants on Sunday. Wilson and the two fullbacks of Merchants, also played good, but their work suffered when compared with the work of America's leading fullback.

The Bethlehem forwards did not seem as dangerous in front of the goal as the Merchant five, despite the fact that the Steel Workers had three opportunities to score to every one that the Merchants had. A radical change will probably be necessary in the next few games, as no matter how strong the defense may be the forwards must get goals.
