STEEL SOCCER TEAM "DOWN BUT NOT OUT"
Lose Cup Laurels, But Can Still Annex Victory in League Race
W. JACKSON TO BE IN GAME

More determined than ever will be the Bethlehem Steel Soccer Club to annex the honors of the American Soccer League, now that the team is eliminated in the National cup competition and an opportunity to take a stronger hold in the second half league race is presented on Saturday afternoon when Providence invades the local field for Bethlehem's second league contest in the last half season.

In announcing the lineup, which, however, is tentative in regards to one or two positions, it becomes definite that neither Johnny Jaap or McDonald will see service in the home game and it is doubtful if either of the two will make the trip to Fall River for the Sunday game.
While Jaap will be missed on the forward line, the goal scoring possibilities of the team will hardly be impaired for at his position at inside right will be Walter Jackson, the senior member of the famed Jackson brothers, who plays on home loam again after an absence of four years. Gillespie will assume command of the wing position in pairing off with Jackson, while Stark will go to center forward.

The capable Johnny Rollo, who has performed nobly in a general utility role and being competition to do so has solved the troubles of the management more than once when in a breach, will do service on the forward line. Among the positions played by Rollo this season have been halfback and goalie in addition to his frequent assignment to the forward line. Rollo will play inside left and with the diminutive Goldie on the outer wing.

The arrangement of the defense will probably bring back some of the strength that has seemingly been so glaringly missing. "Bill" Allan, taking down his soccer togs after several months lay-off will be back in harness and doing duty at right fullback. While his accustomed position, prior to the acquisition of McMeekin has been on the other side of the line, he was tried out at right back against Newark last Sunday and played a stellar game. W. Reid, Carnihan and MacGregor will comprise the halfback trio. Reid sustained a nasty gash in his head in the cup game last Saturday, a wound that required hospital treatment, but is seemingly none the worse for the injury and will start in McDonald's position at right halfback.

For the second half of the season the Steelmen will have fourteen games at home and fifteen away. The dates, however, cannot be decided upon as definite until disposition is made of the cup rounds. The lineup for the Saturday game follows:

Providence -- Bethlehem Steel
Kenneway -- G -- Edwards

Finlayson -- CHB -- Carnihan
