A Swing Along Athletic Row

On Washington's Birthday
In the works operating according to Hoyle, it will shortly be determined whether the Bethlehem Steel Soccer Club or New Bedford has clinched the opportunity of being one of the four teams to engage in the round robin series to decide the championship at the close of the American Soccer League season. If time is still available at the conclusion of the extensive second half schedule to play the games planned. Bethlehem Steel and New Bedford, each defeated by the Giants on successive days, finished the first half in a deadlock for second place, runner-ups to Boston, the first half champion. Feb. 22, Washington's Birthday, is the date set for the replay and the pitch will be a neutral grounds at Tiverton, R. I., the home field of Fall River. New Bedford made luring overture to play the game in New Bedford, contending that the financial returns would be far greater. However, Bethlehem seems quite satisfied to abide by the dictates of the league so it's Fall River or nowhere for the replay.

What the Replay Means
The replay between Bethlehem Steel and New Bedford is quite important. Vastly so should either or both of the two clubs finish lower than second in the second half of the league race. The pan in vogue to decide the championship this year is a new one. The winning team wand runner-up of the first half will meet the winning team and runner-up of the second half and then the winners of this four-cornered affair will be proclaimed champion. Boston is already assured of breaking into the argument, having topped the clubs in the first half season. The replay between Bethlehem and New Bedford will determine the runner-up.
