A Swing Along Athletic Row

The Four Survivors
Bethlehem Steel, Fall River, Newark and New Bedford are the four survivors in the American Soccer League cup competition for the Lewis trophy. The field was whittled down to this quartet in a replay second round tilt in New York on Monday afternoon when Newark upholding its reputation as a wrecker of potential champions, bowled over the Giants by the decisive count of 3 to 1. The pairing for the semi-final round will no doubt see Bethlehem opposing Newark and Fall River in competition with New Bedford. Incidentally Bethlehem's cup chances against the Jerseymen can be gleaned here next Saturday when the two teams meet in a league contest.
