PROVIDENCE HERE SATURDAY
Steel Players Will Have Work Cut Out For Them In League Game
FLETCHER'S SNAPPY BUNCH

The Bethlehem Steel soccer team will gain be home over the weekend when they entertain Sam Fletcher's Providence club in an American Soccer League game on the Steel Field. Providence is one of the first division clubs and a club that has created havoc among the early season contenders for the league honors.

Added significance is attached to this game due to the fact that the players sporting the colors of the New England clan have been mustered together by Sam Fletcher, a former star on the Bethlehem team and for a long time a resident of this city. Fletcher has collected a brilliant array of soccer stars and the fact that the team is not up among the leaders is probably due to the setbacks sustained early in the season.

The local players seem to have tossed aside the slump that apparently was experienced when they dropped three important games and are again back in their winning stride. This is indicated by the manner in which they disposed of the strong Boston team on the latter's grounds last Saturday, and then, after a hard game, went to Providence the following day and equalized with the Fletcher clan after the latter had piled up a two-goal lead.

Several shake-ups were apparent in the Steel Workers' lineup in the last few games, and as a matter of fact, a definite selection for Saturday is also uncertain in a number of positions. These changes were more frequent on the forward lines where such brilliant performers as Rollo, Forrest, Granger and others were eliminated in order to give them a rest.

Providence is certain to field its strongest club, for of all the towns on the loop Bethlehem is the place where Fletcher is determined to make the most impressive showing. And usually a good game is witnessed when these two teams meet. If victory does come to the Steel Workers it will not be without a good and hard battle.
