ROYAL TREAT FOR SOCCER FANS
Providence Here for American League Game on Saturday -- A Clever Combination
FAST CONTEST ASSURED

Soccer enthusiasts are in for a royal treat on Saturday afternoon when the Bethlehem Steel soccer team meets its keen rival, Providence, in an American Soccer League game, to be played on the Bethlehem Steel field. Due to the arrangements of the league executives the game, as well as all subsequent league contests, will start at 3 o'clock instead of 2:30.

With weather conditions favorable, and the field completely dried out, fans are assured of one of the fastest contests of the winter months. Providence is a clever combination of soccer exponents and spurred on by Manager Sam Fletcher, is one of the most aggressive football elevens in the league. This was apparent in recent games against Fall River and other topnotchers in the American loop.

Interest will center on the work of Abdullah, the Providence forward, and the only Egyptian player of high class caliber who is associated with the booting game in this country. Also that of Dick, the Providence center halfback, who critics contend as one of the best player at this position in the country. Dick, before migrating to this country, played with the Armadale Club, of Scotland. The Egyptian is one of the visitors' most dangerous forwards, an opportunist who seldom misses with his accurate and speedy shooting when within vicinity of goal.

Around these stars Manager Fletcher, who himself will play his regular position at right fullback, the former Bethlehem Steel star, has built up one of the most representative teams in the league and a club that improved in its playing as the season progressed.

Against the invaders Bethlehem Steel will pit its strongest lineup in spite of the fact that several of the players will probably be laid up for a rest. It is feared that due to the severe strain all season, a few of the Steel Workers have gone stale and for that reason will not be seen in the lineup tomorrow afternoon. The brilliant Johnny Rollo is one of these players, and although it has not yet been definitely decided to eliminate him in the lineup against the visitors, Arthur Robertson is being considered for the inside left berth.

Otherwise the forward line will remain intact. Archie Stark will be given the opportunity of increasing his goal scoring record at the center forward position and will be flanked on the right by Maxwell and either Turner or Forrest. The left wing will have either Rollo or Robertson at the inside berth with Goldie certain at outside right.

Against the Fletcher clan the management has decided to rely on the veteran experience of Jock Young and Jock Ferguson to frustrate the aggressive tactics of the visiting forwards and will use the sterling trio, Carnihan, MacGregor and McDonald, on the halfback line. As for custodians the display of Davy Carson since installed as the regular goalie assures confidence that the citadel will be well guarded. The probable lineup of the teams will be as follows:

Bethlehem -- Providence
Carson -- G -- Sturgener
Young -- RFB -- Fletcher
J. Ferguson -- LFB -- Carroll
McDonald -- RHB -- Blair
Carnihan -- CHB -- Dick
MacGregor -- LHB -- Auld
Turner or Forrest -- OR -- Beattie
Maxwell -- IR -- Abdullah
Stark -- CF -- Best
Robertson or Rollo -- IL -- Gibson
Goldie -- OL -- Florie
