A Swing Along Athletic Row

On the Home Stretch
By sharing the points in the two games New England invasion over the weekend the Bethlehem soccer team just about sewed up the bunting for the American Soccer League championship. Defeated at New Bedford on Saturday afternoon, the Steelmen performed in true championship style in defeating Providence on Sunday by the count of 4 to 2. Mathematically there is still a chance of upsetting the Steelmen's league ambitions but morally the probability is decidedly slim. Of the six or seven league games still remaining to be played the Steelmen have two away from home games.

Will Be Active In Cup Competition
For the next several weeks the Steelmen will be occupied in concentrating on the U.S.F.A. cup tie, the opening round game of which is scheduled for next Saturday when the Steelmen journey to Philadelphia. League games will be set aside for several weeks unless the unexpected should happen in the way of elimination. Another cup game is listed for the following Saturday and so on until the issue is decided. Should Bethlehem, therefore, be successful in defending its title as National champions it will be many weeks before the Steelmen resume their league grind.
