BETHLEHEMS DEFEATS HIBS BY THE SCORE OF 6 GOALS TO 1
Local Soccer Team Captures American League Championship. 2000 Witness Game.

Bethlehems was returned victor over Hibernian, Philadelphia, in the deciding game for the American league soccer championship which was contested in Bethlehem, Saturday, before 2000 persons, 6 goals to 1. Hibernian was strengthened by Glazier, McLean and Wilson of New York.

Honors were fairly even the first half, which ended two goals to one. In the second half, Bethlehems held Hibernian hard on the defense. Goal Keeper Heimbecker saved no fewer than a dozen goals throughout the game. A few injuries resulted but all were of a minor character. Bethlehems won the toss and gained a corner kick in the first minute of play and Heimbecker, in clearing the ball, went over the line a foot. The referee did not allow the point.

Bethlehems began to attack fiercely and after gaining several corner kicks in quick succession, Clarke with a pretty shot completely bewildered the Hib goalkeeper. Shortly before half time, Ford scored for Bethlehems from a pass by Fleming on a low hard drive. Millar scored the third goal and shortly thereafter added the fourth point. The line-up:
