STEEL HAS A FIGHTING CHANCE
And In Order To Take Advantage of It Will Try To Defeat
PHILLIES HERE TOMORROW

by F. S. Nonnemacher
With still a fighting chance for the bunting if a winning streak can be established in the American Soccer League race the Bethlehem Steel soccer team goes to the post in a league tilt on Saturday afternoon on the Steel Field with the Philadelphia F. C. the opponent. Several changes in the Phillies lineup recently have made the Quakers quite formidable and a hard game is expected.

The game will mark the resumption of the Eastern campaign following the invasion of the Bethlehems of St. Louis where great success and fame were achieved by the decisive manner in which the Steel Workers downed the cream of the soccer talent in the western district.

Granger, whose display of football ranked with the prettiest seen in St. Louis has most likely been added permanently to the Bethlehem forward line. In the two big games played in the west, Granger was at an inside post with the front liners. Granger takes the place of Neil Turner, who off and on this season has been bothered with bad legs. The other forwards will be the regular standbys with A. Jackson and Goldie on the outside wings, Granger and Maxwell, inside forwards and Walter Jackson, center forward. Jock Young will e one of the fullbacks instead of the veteran Jock Ferguson. Otherwise the lineup will be intact.

Although somewhat behind in completing the American League schedule, very few games are arranged for this circuit for over the coming weekend. Bethlehem has one game and that is the home affair to be played here tomorrow in which Charlie Scott, of Brooklyn, N. Y., has been delegated to referee. The Sunday games are New York F. C. vs. Newark Soccer Club, at New York, and the National Giants, of New York, and Brooklyn F. C. on the same field. This will be the second double header played at New York Oval, the only available playing field in the city at the present time.

The probable lineup of the teams tomorrow follows:

Bethlehem -- Philadelphia
Highfield -- G -- Chapman
Young -- RFB -- Rogers
D. Ferguson -- LFB -- Gaw
McGregor -- RHB -- Burnett
Carnihan -- CHB -- Clarke
Terris -- LHB -- McDonald
A. Jackson -- OR -- McClure
Granger -- IR -- Bolton
W. Jackson -- CF -- Cullen
Maxwell -- IL -- Curran
Goldie -- OL -- Rudolph
