Sunday Games
Fall River 2; Newark 1.
Bethlehem Steel 3; Indiana Flooring 1.
Brooklyn 0; New Bedford 0.
Games in the American Soccer League over the weekend witnessed a change in the standing of the clubs insofar as Fall River and Bethlehem Steel, both pennant aspirants, were concerned. Bethlehem Steel, topping the league for the week, dropped back into second place with Fall River again at the top of the ladder.
In leading the league the Steel Workers played one more game than Fall River. The opportunity to equalize the total number of games played was presented over the weekend and the former National champions made good by defeating Philadelphia and Newark and thereby collecting the four points. Bethlehem Steel, successful in its game against Indiana Flooring, earned the two points and is now riding in second place with a margin of one point separating. The result of the other games played made no change in the league standing.
The soccer race is entered on the last lap and Bethlehem and Fall River each have five more games to play. The closing up campaigning of the Steel Workers threatens to be far more grueling than that of the league leaders but with the Steel Workers going at top speed and the conditions favoring the game resorted to by Bethlehem t he home fans are confident that naught but victories can result. Boston F. C. is the only remaining home game. The other games to be played on the grounds of the clubs named are Fleisher Yarn, New York Giants, Providence and Philadelphia F. C. Of the five games still to be played Fall River will meet Indiana Flooring and Fleisher Yarn on the latter's grounds.
