CHANCE TO ANNEX THREE SOCCER TITLES
Bethlehem Steel Team Is going at a Fast Pace
STRONGEST TEAM EVER

A chance to establish a new record in annexing three titles provided the team keeps up its onward rush, is open to the Bethlehem Steel Company soccer team, America's soccer champions. The chance to win the three titles is open to the club for the first time in its history and with all the players in good condition and continuing the stride they have set, it is fairly safe to venture that the local soccerites will establish a new record.

Bethlehem is in the finals of both the National and American cup tourneys and are also leading the National League by two points. Last year Bethlehem appeared in both the American and National cup finals and while they won the American cup, it will be remembered, bowed to defeat at the hands of the Fall River Rovers in the National final. One goal scored in the early minutes of play decided the game in favor of the Fall River Rovers.

The team representing the Steel Workers this season is really stronger than ever before. The inclusion of Ratican at center forward seems to have strengthene3d one of the weakest places on the team in previous years. Ratican is the type of player who is always in the game. He is one of the Connie Lynch type, but as he is a better shot he is a more valuable player than Lynch. Murphy is a big improvement over McKelvey at outside right, while "Whitey' Fleming is also having one of his best season. Every other player on the team is deserving of mention and the successful season is due to the excellent work of every player, not individually, but as a team. 1917-1918
