Teams Played Scoreless Tie in Chicago Sunday – Darkness Put End to Game – Locals Showed Greater Speed in Offensive Work in First Half.

Associated Press to The GlobeBR> Chicago, April 17 – The play-off of the semi-final game between the Pullman and Bethlehem soccer teams for the United States championship will be played in the Lehigh University stadium at South Bethlehem next Saturday, according to a telegraph from President Fernley of the United States Soccer association received last night. The two teams played to a scoreless tie here yesterday.

The Pullman soccer football team and the Bethlehem Steel company team played a scoreless tie yesterday in Chicago, in the semi-final game for the cup emblematic of the United States championship. An extra period was played, but neither team had scored when darkness put an end to the game.

Play was fast and clean. In the first half the locals showed the greater speed in offensive work, but this was largely equalized by the strong defense of the Pullmans, especially that of Goalkeeper Holmes. The western players showed more aggressive tactics in the second period, but Goalkeeper Duncan, Bethlehem, also proved his ability to smother the attack. Each squad slowed down in the extra period.
