With two very hard games off their hands, with Pullman, Chicago, and Hibernian, Philadelphia, the Bethlehem players will now turn their attention to the Jersey City team which they are scheduled to meet next Sunday at Federal League park, Newark. Training was again started by the locals yesterday and although the majority of the players are still suffering from hard knocks and bruises received in the last two games of Saturday and Monday, none is suffering from any serious injury.
On Saturday, May 6, Bethlehem Steel will play Fall River Rover for the United States championship at Pawtucket, R. I. The American League of Philadelphia will hold an important meeting tonight in the Inquirer Building, Philadelphia. In this league Bethlehem Steel has to play two games and just how these games can be worked in will have to be settled tonight. Should Bethlehem win on Saturday with Jersey City it will then be in the semi-final of the American Cup competition. In this competition Scottish American, Newark and Babcock and Wilcox teams are already in the semi-final. The winner of the Pan American vs. Fall River game will be the other club to enter the semi-final.
These four clubs will be drawn against each other and will play off their rounds at the first opportunity, probably on May 13 or 14. The final for the American Cup will be played on May 20 or 21. The soccer season usually ends around the end of April but owing to the bad weather experienced during the last two months the games have been postponed which makes the playing off of cup games in May a very unusual occurrence.
