A Swing Along Athletic Row

Enterprising Mr. Stoneham
New York soccer fans will be given the opportunity of registering their approval or disapproval on an innovation in soccer. On Wednesday night Charles Stoneham, enterprising owner of the New York Nationals, baseball and soccer teams, will present the first major league soccer game ever staged at night on the Polo Grounds in New York. According to the plans the game is to be started before the shades of night have fallen and it is hoped to complete the first half without any artificial light. For the second half the pitch will be illuminated by a batter of high powered flood lights. It is an experiment and a continuance of the night booting will depend entirely on the encouragement given by the cash customers.
