STEEL BOOTERS CLOSE LEAGUE WITH VICTORY
Mow Down Giants Before Big Crowd on Sunday By 3 to 2 Score.
BELATED RALLY DOES TRICK

Playing sluggish football up until late in the game the Bethlehem soccer team rallied and scoring goals in rapid succession downed the New York Giants in the last of the Eastern League meetings on Sunday by the score of 3 to 2. This game was played at Starlight Park, N. Y., before a crowed of more than three thousand fans.

Archie Stark, Bethlehem, center did not make the trip. Stark was unable to accompany the team because of illness.

Ten minutes from time the Giants were leading by 2 to 1 and looked like winners but the steel workers staged a desperate rally and not only caught up, but drove in the winning goal just before the final whistle.

The Giants turned out with Peter Jogi, formerly of the Newark Portuguese, at center halfback, and he capped a fine showing by scoring a clever goal. Red Ballantyne also played brilliantly throughout the match.

The game was only five minutes old when Bethlehem jumped out in front, Reid, then right halfback, driving the ball into the net from a well-placed corner by Jaap.

The Giants attacked strongly and soon got even through Ballantyne, and before half time Jogi also scored, resulting in the steel workers trailing at half time.

The Giants played strongly upon resuming and peppered their rival's goal from all angles.

Their 2 to 1 lead was held until ten minutes from full time, when Bethlehem came with a rush and after Rollo had equalized with a goal which was strongly protested for offsides, Tommy Gillespie came through with the winning point soon afterwards.

The Giants played like demons in the remaining time, but Beveridge could not be beaten again.
