Five players of the Bethlehem Steel Co., championship soccer team were in the lineup in the game played at Newark, N. J., yesterday afternoon for the benefit of the Red Cross. T he local players were on the team that represented the New York and Pennsylvania district and were opposed to a team representing the New Jersey district. The game ended in a tie with two goals apiece.
The team on which the Bethlehem men were playing was sadly handicapped in their playing by several of the men scheduled to take part, not putting in their appearance. The positions were filled by men who had little experience in the game and instead of helping the play were more of a setback to the more experienced players.
A large crowd witnessed the contest and a neat sum realized for the Red Cross.
