Fore River Players All Foreign Born
In glancing over the lineup of the Fore River club, the team that defeated Robins Dry Docks in the semi-final of the National Cup competition and then journeyed to St. Louis where they succumbed to the playing of the Ben Miller's in the final, it is noted that every member of the outfit is of British origin and learned the game in Scotland or England. Ten of the players claim Scotland as the land of their birth. James Lambie, goal tender; Thomas Littlejohn, left fullback; Adam Clawson, right halfback; Joe Black, left halfback; James Farquhar, outside right forward; David Page, inside right forward; Thomas Underwood, center forward; William Daley, inside left forward; James Daley reserve forward; and Gregory Stewart, reserve halfback, all hail from the land of the heather. There are four Englishmen on the squad in William Parkinson, right fullback; George Green, center halfback; John Kershaw, outside left, and Leo Tipping, reserve forward.
