A Swing Along Athletic Row

Metropolitan Appearance for Steelmen
It will not be many more weeks before the American Soccer League inaugurates its 1927-28 campaign and when it does quite a few of the clubs represented in this circuit should be near topnotch form. Practically all of the teams have already played exhibition games and plan to squeeze quite a few more in before the league season gets underway. The Steelmen, although badly handicapped by the absence of several regulars and injuries to some of those who were available, made a quite creditable showing in winning one and tying another game on a two-day tour to Canada. Incidentally these were the first games for the Steelmen this season. The Bethlehem soccerites will make their metropolitan debut over the coming weekend and have two seemingly tough assignments in these exhibition games. In both games they go against Nat Agar's Brooklyn Wanderers and meet a team which virtually was not disbanded at the close of last season but has been playing intact off and on throughout the summer. These games should prove an excellent test for the American Soccer League champions.
