HALF OF SOCCER LEAGUE SCHEDULE DRAWN UP
Arranged So Regular and Cup Games Do Not Conflict -- Meeting Held.
NEW BEDFORD STARTS HERE

Representatives of the American Soccer League gathered at Providence, R. I., on Saturday, at which time the schedule for the first half of the season, together with other routine business, was attended.

In view of arranging games so that no American Soccer League club is idle over any of the weekends, the schedule was drawn up for the first half only during which there will be no interruptions brought about by cup games.

The usual custom was to adopt the schedule for the entire season and as a result clubs eliminated in the cup play were sometimes idle on cup tie dates. It is against such recurrences that the schedule is drawn only for the first half.

Bethlehem Steel will play its opening league game in Bethlehem with New Bedford as the opponent. T his will be on September 10 and the following day the Steel Workers will engage the Brooklyn Wanderers at the latter place.

The Lewis Cup competition will be started the latter part of December and will be followed by the National Cup competition sometime in January.
