Looking as fit as the proverbial fiddle and ready to jump into harness at the first call, George Forrest, former Bethlehem soccer player returned last night and will probably be seen in action against Newark on Lehigh Field on Saturday afternoon.
Forrest was glad to get back with his former team mates, and his returning was the occasion of much rejoicing among his former pals. Always popular with players and fans, the management negotiated wisely when they brought the Canadian star back to Bethlehem.
Ambitions to keep the slate clean of defeats the team went through a spirited workout yesterday afternoon and will clash in a scrimmage today. The two hard games over the weekend is assurance enough that all [...] on the squad will get a chance [...] of the games.
Local fans have had little opportunity of seeing the new acquisitions in action and although the lineup to oppose Newark here on Saturday has not yet been selected, it is more than likely that the management will show preference to the new men. This is particularly true inasmuch as the front line is concerned and it would be little surprise if the only veterans for the Saturday game were Archie Stark, at center forward, and Malcolm Goldie, at outside left.
With the exception of center forward the club has two complete forward lines. The one comprises Stark, Granger, Jaap, Rollo and Goldie, the players who brought t he club through to a national championship. However, fans are anxious to see the new men under fire and with this in mind it would be little surprising if the players selected on the forward line against Newark included Forrest and Ed Smith, at inside jobs; Gillespie, at an outside berth, with Goldie and Stark competing the combination.
