Bethlehem, 5; Reading, 0.
Playing on the East End field Saturday afternoon before a good crowd, the Bethlehem soccer team defeated the Reading club in the opening game of the Eastern Pennsylvania League championship. The afternoon was marred by the late arrival of the Reading team. The game was scheduled to start at 3 o'clock sharp, but was 4:30 when Referee Wm. Filer blew his whistle. Cassidy played center and Lewis played inside right to Galbraith. Stuart was sent to play left fullback, Medlecot taking his place at center half. The team lined up as follows: Goal, Carpenter; RFB, Bone; LFB, Stuart; :RHB, Horsfall; CHB, Medlecot; LHB, Gribbon; OR, Galbraith; IR, Lewis; CF, Cassidy; IL, Williams; OL, Leonard. Referee, McFiler, Reading. Linesman, Messrs. Shackleton and Derby. Time of halves, 35 minutes. Goals scored by Williams, Cassidy, Lewis, Griffiths and Galbraith.
