A Swing Along Athletic Row

A Battle Royal Forecast
Former Bethlehem Steel soccerites after leaving here have caused the locals no little concern in wrecking their aspirations for soccer laurels. Harold Brittan and his team of practically all former Bethlehem players last season snatched the National championship and the American League bunting away from the Steel Workers although Bethlehem did conquer Fall River in the final of the American Cup competition. Another player who has assumed the managerial role threatened to make good is Sam Fletcher, a former Bethlehem fullback who in his first year as a manager has rigged up one of the neatest soccer teams in the circuit, campaigning under the colors of Providence. Fletcher and his tribe are going to be guests on the Steel lot on Saturday afternoon and judging by the rivalry already stimulated between these two teams the affair is going to be anything but a pink tea. For those soccer fans who might have forgotten, Providence with Fletcher at the helm dented Bethlehem for one of the two defeats sustained this season. It was after a hard draw game with the big Boston professionals that Bethlehem invaded Providence and then in the first meeting between these two teams was set back for a 4 to 1 defeat. The outcome of Saturday's game will be watched with interest throughout the circuit.
