Another new player will shortly make his appearance with the Bethlehem Steel F. C. The newcomer is Edward Evans, of Ireland, arrived early this week and after attending to the usual routine in signing with the Steel Workers got in a few licks of practice.
With Evans the club has included no less than five additional players to those who represented the Steel Workers last year, and with this coterie of stars expects to make a spirited bid for the American Soccer League honors, now held by Fall River, National champions.
In the few practice sessions this week Evans looked good and promises to add strength to the defensive side of the team. It is not likely, however, that he will get into the lineup this week.
Evans joins the local club with an excellent record made in Ireland, his native heath. He is a left halfback and before coming to this country played first division soccer in the Irish League with Glentoren, of Belfast. He is the third Irish player included in the roster of the local club. The other two are Carson, the goalie, who was with the club last season, and McDonald, who joined the club early this season. All three are youngsters with presumably many years of fast soccer before them.
