Soccer Football

Bethlehem, 4; Summit Hill, 0.

The local soccer team took another step upward in the Eastern Pennsylvania League, when it trounced the Summit Hill team to the tune of 4-0 on East End field, Saturday, thus retaining its undefeated record. The visiting team put up a plucky fight and tried hard on several occasions to get through the home defense, which was safe, the fullbacks and halfbacks holding them easily. The forwards played a dashing game that only for the fine work of the visiting goal keeper the score would have been easily doubled. A great setback to the visiting team was when the game had been in progress 30 minutes two of their players came into collision and the game was stopped for 15 minutes, while they were assisted off the field and were attended by Mr. Lynn of the Bethlehem Steel Works. The local management wishes to convey to Mr. Lynn its appreciation for his good services. It was expected that the two players would be out of the game, but the pluck and determination for which they are noted brought them on the field again. The home team should be given credit for the way they are working together, the forwards all playing a good game. Cassidy stars best at center forward, and scored the first goal. Galbraith scoring the next two with lightening shots, the interval arriving with the score 3-0. On resuming the second half the home team pressed, but found the visiting goal keeper playing a great game and it was toward the end of the game when Horsfall got the ball and beating the defense scored the fourth goal, placing the ball well out of Love's reach, the game ending Bethlehem 4, Summit Hill 0. They lined up as follows:

Summit -- Love, goal; A. Haughton, RFB; W. Derby, LFB; Humphries, RHB; J. Haughton, CHB; Garrett, LHB; T. Derby, Sr., OR; T. Derby, Jr., IR; T. Haughton, CF; Black, IL; Shovelin, OL.

Bethlehem -- Carpenter, goal; Bone, RFB; Stewart, LFB; Medicot, RHB; Gribbon, CHB; Larlow, LHB; Galbraith, OR; Lewis, IR; Cassidy, CF; Horsfall, IL; Leonard, OL

Goals - -Cassidy, Galbraith, Horsfall. Referee, Filer, Reading. Linesmen -- Paterson, Bethlehem and W. Haughton, Summit Hill. Time of halves -- 45 minutes.

The management wishes to announce that negotiations are being made with Paterson Olympia the undefeated team of Jersey City. IF this game is landed it should be a great attraction, as next Saturday, Nov. 4, Lehigh will have no game at home.
