BETHLEHEM WINS, 6-1
PUTS PUTNAM TEAM OUT
National Soccer Champion Eliminates Phila Eleven From American Cup Play.

Bethlehem Steel team, National and American titleholder, and Putnam, Philadelphia Allied league champion for the last three seasons, met Saturday in the first round of the American Cup soccer series. Bethlehem won 6-1. The last time these two teams played was in 1914, when Bethlehem eliminated them from the national series by a score of 7-1.

In their game Saturday with the steelworkers, Putnam was completely outclassed and the final score of 6-1 fairly represents the run of the game. On the kickoff, the visitors went down the field with a rush and in less than three minutes were in the lead, Gheeig heading the ball past Duncan from a scrimmage. From that time on Bethlehem did most of the forcing and the visitors were lucky in holding the champions to one goal.
