CHANGES IN SOCCER STANDING
Bethlehem Steel Now Only Three Points Behind Leaders In American League
BOSTON GETS FIRST DEFEAT

Election Day Soccer Results

Bethlehem 2; Newark 0
Brooklyn 3; Boston 1
Pawtucket 2; Providence 1
Indiana Flooring 1; New York Giants 0

Several of the top notch teams in the American League took a tumble in recent games played and as a result the point difference between the contenders and the top notchers was greatly decreased. Bethlehem with a victory last Saturday and another over Newark F. C. yesterday afternoon is riding in fifth place although the difference in points is no more than three. And Bethlehem has played one game less than either of the leaders with the exception of Indiana Flooring, of New York, also credited with eleven games.

The biggest upset in the soccer ranks occurred at Brooklyn, N. Y., on Election Day when the Brooklyn Wanderers handed Boston F. C. the big professional club admitted to the circuit this year its first defeat. The Brooklynites won by the score of 3 to 1. The Sunday previous Brooklyn divided the points with Fall River by virtue of a 2 goal draw game and on the showing for these two teams, now looms up as one of the most dangerous contenders for the league honors.

Archie Stark, the Bethlehem center forward, is deadlocked with Stevens , of Boston, and Brittan of fall River for the individual goal scoring honors. Each have a total of fifteen goals to date. The record of Stark is probably the most imposing since the Bethlehem front liner has played in one game less than either of his rivals.

Bethlehem goes to the post on the home field again Saturday, scheduled for a game against New Bedford. The latter club is the one that handed the Steel Workers a rather unexpected defeat and the comparison of the two teams in action will be of great interest to local fans. The following Saturday Bethlehem meets Brooklyn here and on the day following plays a return game at Brooklyn.

Following is the standing of the clubs:
