BETHLEHEM STEEL TO MEET BROOKLYN
Game Between These Teams 4 Weeks Ago Was Tough One for Bethlehem
LONG LIST OF INJURIES

Four weeks ago Bethlehem Steel and Brooklyn fought to a torrid two goal draw in an American Soccer League game on Lehigh Field. In that game Bethlehem lost three of their star payers, who were idle ever since, but will come back to the lineup when Brooklyn invades the lair of the league champions on Saturday afternoon.

The casualties were the greatest ever experienced by Bethlehem in a single game. Dave Edwards, crack goalie, was the first to leave the field with a badly injured leg. He was followed shortly afterwards by Allan and McMeekin, the two backs, and then later in the game Granger was injured.

So great was the emergency that Johnny Rollo, short but stocky member of the team, had an opportunity to display his versatility when for a time he acted as custodian during Edwards’ absence, later played on the halfback line and then finished the game on the forward line.

Edwards and McMeekin will play their first game since injured in the previous visit of Brooklyn to Bethlehem. The brilliant goalie will be back between the uprights while McMeekin will pair off with McLaughlin, the latter a quite recent acquisition, at fullback. This became apparent when the lineup was announced today. Whitey McDonald, who played a great game in staving off Brooklyn’s attempts to win after the team was crippled, will be the only regular among the missing and his place at right halfback will be taken by W. Reid.

The lineup submitted disclose that the management will stick to their plan of rearranged forward line which was tried out against Fall River last Saturday and with good success. Tom Gillespie will be at outside right with Jaap at inside right. Archie Stark at center forward and Goldie at outside left.

McConnell played center forward for Bethlehem on all of its exhibition tours and proved to be a fine goal getter. He remained in the position until Gillespie returned late from his trip abroad and was then changed to an inside forward position. At the time McConnell was injured he was the club’s leading goal scorer.

Brooklyn will line up with practically the same team that held Bethlehem to a two goal draw here and which earlier in the season defeated the champions by the score of 5 to 0. The forward line has the speedy and accurate passing Adair and Yule at the outside wing position while the inside forward to support Nelson, center, a top scorer of the club, will be Curtis and Eisenhoffer.

The kickoff will be at 2:30 o’clock The probable lineup follows:

Bethlehem – Brooklyn
Edwards – G – Smith
McLaughlin – RFB – Marshall
McMeekin – LFB -- McMillan
W. Reid – RHB – Robertson
Carnihan – CHB – Drucker
MacGregor – LHB – Morris
Gillespie – OR – Adair
Jaap – IR – Curtis
Stark – CF – Nelson
McConnell – IL – Eisenhoffer
Goldie – OL – Yule.
