Bethlehem Steel Clashes With Philadelphia on Steel Field in Afternoon

Soccer fans will find the Bethlehem Steel athletic field their mecca on Saturday afternoon when the Steel Workers oppose the Philadelphia F. C. in an American Soccer League game. The final big workout of the team for this contest was held by the Steel Workers on Thursday afternoon, after which the team was selected.

With a change of management in the Philadelphia organization the Steel Workers are expecting most anything and in fact look forward to one of the hardest games experienced with the Quaker clan. The players have taken hold of the club and have bolstered up departments where strength lacked.

The lineup of the Bethlehem team will introduce a new player in Berryman, a fullback, who signed a contract this week. Berryman will pair off with veteran Jock Ferguson. Another experiment will probably be witnessed in the forward line where Johnny Jaap is likely to start at the inside left position instead of Johnny Rollo. The latter recently recovered from an injury is ready to play but will probably be rested up for the two hard games that follow during the next week.

With the exception of Berryman at fullback the defense of the team will remain the same. Dave Carson will do his stuff between the uprights while the celebrated trio of McDonald, Carnihan and MacGregor will comprise the halfback line. [...] Forrest and Jim Purvis, a combination that have been working well on the right will see service there while on the left Jaap instead of Rollo will pair off with Malcolm Goldie. For center forward Bethlehem's coring ace, Archie Stark will be in his regular position. The kickoff will be at 2:45 p.m.
