Bowling Fall River over on Saturday by the score of 4 to 0 the Bethlehem soccer team, national champions, not only strengthened its position as league leader but widened the lead by a substantial margin.

While Bethlehem was defeating Fall River, Boston, one of the contending clubs, was held by Coats, the tail end club, to a 2 goal draw. As a result Boston dropped to fourth place in the league standing, with New Bedford close on the heels of Fall River for second place.

The champions have played fewer games than any of the contending clubs and as a result the point lead margin is but two. However, it is the percentage that counts and in this the local team is well in the lead. Of the 19 games played by Bethlehem, two were lost and four were drawn. Fall River and Boston have each lost 6.

Bethlehem’s last defeat was on October 1, when Fall River defeated the champions at Tiverton on a penalty kick by the score of 2 to 1. Since then the club has played eight games, winning seven and drawing in one. The draw tilt was played in Bethlehem when Boston shared the points with the score a one goal deadlock.

Bethlehem has now played a round robin series with each of the clubs and the league just about started on the second half. The lead of the Steelmen is commanding, especially so since the majority of the games have been played against the recognized stronger teams. There is one more meeting with Fall River and that will be at the latter place later in the season. The standing of the clubs including all games played to date follows:
