STEEL SOCCER TEAM AWAY SATURDAY
League Leaders Go Against Boston and Providence Over Weekend
SOME ON INJURED LIST

The Bethlehem Steel soccer team leaves on Friday night for a hard two-game schedule over the weekend, in which the steelmen will have to be on their mettle to retain the substantial lead in the American Soccer League race.

To Play Boston

On Saturday afternoon Bethlehem will oppose Boston and the following day will journey to Providence to meet the strong Fletcher aggregation. Recently on a visit of the Hubmen to Bethlehem the league leaders were held to a one goal draw.

The possibility of some of the indisposed players b being fit to return to the lineup for at least one of these games was intimated at club quarters today. Their return should improve materially Bethlehem’s chances of a dual victory. The players who have been physically handicapped, include Billy Allan, Archie Stark, Bill Carnihan, Johnny Granger, Whitey McDonald and Johnny Rollo. Allan, Stark, Carnihan and Rollo will probably see service in one of the two games.

Providence recently figured in a deal in which Harold Brittan was purchased from the New Bedford club. Brittan has thus far refused to join the Fletcher outfit but should he experience a change of mind between now and Sunday and report for the Bethlehem game, his services could well be utilized at a forward position.

The weekend league schedule follows:

Saturday
Boston vs. Bethlehem at Boston. Referee, W. Norse.
Springfield vs. J & P Coats at Springfield. Referee, M. Bloom.
Philadelphia vs. New Bedford at Philadelphia. Referee, R. McCabe.

Sunday
Fall River vs. Coats at Tiverton. Referee, R. Rose.

Indiana Flooring vs. Giants at Indiana-New York Oval. Referee, T. Cunningham.
Brooklyn vs. Springfield at Brooklyn. Referee, C. Creighton.
Newark vs. New Bedford at Newark. Referee, J. Hayes.
