On Christmas afternoon the Bethlehem soccer football team, champions of Eastern Pennsylvania, easily defeated the strong Fairhill team of the Inter-State League of Philadelphia, by the score of 6 to 0. Before one of the largest crowds of the season the local team played a fast, snappy game, and gave a clever exhibition of passing. Capt. Stewart, Patterson, Galbraith and Lewis did the scoring. In the first half, within the first three minutes of play, Galbraith kicked the ball between the goal posts for the first score, and then as the first half was fast drawing to its close, Patterson scored the second goal. In the second half the locals had the Fairhill team on the "jump" at all times and nothing but the remarkable work of Kelly at goal saved a goal from close to the center of the field. Lewis and Patterson also scoring a goal. Dykes at left fullback and Kelly of goal for Fairhill played an exceptionally strong game.
The Bethlehem team has practically closed, Feb. 17, with the Haverford College, to be played on Lehigh University field and in all probability will have the University of Pennsylvania on their schedule before the season closes.
