JOCK BROWN STARS AS GIANTS BEAT BETHLEHEM
Stark's Goals Tie Score But New Yorkers Win Out in Second Half
GOALIES' GREAT WORK

Phenomenal work between the uprights by Jock Brown, New York Giant goalie, frustrated the Bethlehem soccer team in its attempt to continue the undefeated stride of the last several weeks and forced the visitors to submit to a 4 to 2 setback in the Christmas Day league game played in New York.

The visitors were further handicapped when Willie Reid, assigned to take a spot kick, missed in his attempt to notch the goal and also when McDonald, Bethlehem's right back, was injured and forced to leave the game. Without a back available, Reid was removed from the halfback line to play the position and Johnny Rollo substituted at halfback.

Archie Stark, Bethlehem center forward, accounted for both of his teams' goals, his two shots wiping out the lead piled up by the Giants to equalize the score at 2 goals each as the half ended. After the rest interval Bethlehem did most of the attacking but to no avail for Brown handled the well-labeled shots in marvelous style and more than once turned back Bethlehem when a score appeared inevitable.

The Giants went into the lead after ten minutes' play when Hyslop drove the ball into the net from a mix-up in the goal mouth. Bethlehem pressed hard and although forcing five corners, could not beat Jock Brown.

O'Brien increased the Giants' lead, but just before half time Archie Stark came through with two clever goals to make things level at the interval.

Upon resuming Bethlehem bombarded the Giants' goal, but failed to score through some wonderful work by Brown. At twenty minutes Ballantyne converted a great pass by Moorhouse to put the Giants in front 3 to 2.

Bethlehem attacked strongly, but all the shots came alike to Brown. Moorhouse tore in from the left to beat Fraser for the final tally ten minutes from the end and in the remaining time Bethlehem drove in shot after shot, but Brown turned everything back.
