Steel Team Hot After Victory Saturday For H. E. Lewis Cup
Stoneham Booters and Bethlehem Steel Club Have Rearranged Lineups

A revamped New York National soccer team, reconstructed to contribute greater strength, and a revamped Bethlehem Steel Soccer Club, the latter rearranged because of injuries among several players will take the field in Bethlehem on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the pro tournament for the American Soccer League cup tie honors.

The final training of the Steelmen held on Thursday afternoon indicated that some drastic changes might be necessary with a certainty that two of the regulars will be among those missing. With Granger, the veteran cup tie player, reinstated the worries of the forward line are somewhat eased for the aggressive Granger will take Archie Stark's position at inside right while Johnny Jaap, the diminutive wing forward will go back to his old position.

Tom Gillespie will carry on at center forward and will be flanked on the left of Johnny Rollo and Malcolm Goldie. Another favorite with local fans who will be among the missing is W. Reid, right halfback, who is nursing injuries received in the Centennial F. C. game at Philadelphia last week. With Reid out "Whitey" McDonald comes back to his old position and the one he seemingly much more prefers to play and the strapping High Reid will pair off with McMeekin at fullback. Edwards will be in goal.

In announcing the tentative lineup Captain MacGregor and "Bill" Carnihan are the players to complete the halfback line although it is said that with Carnihan it is problematic whether he will start.

While the Steelmen are anxiously determined to annex the victory on the home grounds and by a margin of goals that will leave little doubt to advancing in the tournament regardless of the outcome of the game to be played on the Polo Grounds on Sunday, the revamped Nationals invade Bethlehem as a serious threat and an opponent that will give the Steelmen a hard fight.

However, the visitors' most serious threat seems to lie in the forward line. Henderson, a center forward, is a goal getter. Fast, elusive and a good shot , he is extremely dangerous when in the vicinity of the goal. Henderson was with the club on its previous league visit to Bethlehem by Davy Croft, the inside left will make his first appearance here with the Nationals.

Croft is an Irish Internationalist and made his first appearance before an American audience as a member of the Fall River team last year, the latter a team that annexed the National championship. Why Croft was let out by the Marksmen is a problem t hat critics have been unable to solve for it was his goal getting ability that contributed materially to the success of last year's Fall River team. The forward line of the visitors is completed with Walker, McChesnie and McGhee. Probable lineup follows:

Bethlehem Steel -- N. Y. Nationals
Edwards -- G -- McMinn
H. Reid -- RHB -- Clarke
McMeekin -- LHB -- Warden
McDonald -- RHB -- Gallagher
Carnihan -- CHB -- Slavin
MacGregor -- LHB -- Martin

Gillespie -- CF - -Henderson
