Sunday Games
Fall River 7; Newark F. C. 0.
Brooklyn 3; New York Giants 1 (exhibition)
Fall River continues to set the pace in the American Soccer League race with Bethlehem Steel a close second, the margin of points separating these two teams remaining at three with Fall River having played one more game than the Steel Workers. Two league games were played over the weekend, Fall River defeating Newark F. C by the score of 7 to 0 and Bethlehem conquering the Brooklyn Wanderers 5 goals to 1.
Probably the most important game of the league to date will take place at Tiverton, Mass., the home grounds of Fall River next Sunday, when Bethlehem will be the opponent in the third meeting of the season. The count now stands one game for each club the rival contenders for the league honors having won their home tilt.
Great interest is manifest in this clash for many soccer critics contend t hat the outcome of this game will decide the pennant winner.
In addition to the league games two exhibition games were played in the league over the weekend. In the one Providence and New Bedford, Bethlehem's next opponent in the second round of the cup competition, deadlocked at 3 goals each while in the other Brooklyn defeated in Bethlehem on Saturday, went home and one Sunday defeated the New York Giants 3 goals to 1.
As the result of only two games in the league over the weekend the standing of the clubs remain practically the same with, however, additional points credited to Fall River and Bethlehem. The standing of the teams follows:
