The Cup Chances
Bethlehem and Boston will be finalists in the National Challenge Cup competition unless the unexpected occurs when the semi-finalists meet. Boston is favored to win over Coats and Bethlehem should have the edge on either Brooklyn or the New York Giants. Of the two likely opponents of Bethlehem, Brooklyn seems the more dangerous. Should Boston and Bethlehem clash as the Eastern division finalists, a comparison of results in games in which these two teams have met would give the Steelmen the edge. Last year Bethlehem and Boston met four times in league games. Boston was shutout without a victory, Bethlehem winning two and drew in the other two, capturing six out of the possible eight points. Twice this season have the Hubmen and Steel Workers met in league games. Bethlehem winning one and Boston taking the other. The last National trophy won by a Steel team was in 1919, making a total of four times that the cup rested in Bethlehem.
