NEW BEDFORD LEADS IN SOCCER LEAGUE
Newark, the Steelmen's Jonah, and Brooklyn Shove Out the Leaders.
FALL RIVER IN THIRD PLACE

New Bedford took the lead in the second half of the American Soccer League race over the weekend when Bethlehem Steel was toppled out of the coveted position by virtue of defeats suffered at the hands of Newark and Brooklyn. The result of the weekend games follows:

Brooklyn Wanderers 2, Bethlehem 0.
New York Giants 3, New Bedford 3.
Fall River 2, New York Nationals 1.
Boston 9, Newark 1
Providence 2, J & P Coats 1.

The Three contending clubs for first place of which Fall River is a close third, trailing the Steelmen is a bunched up affair with one victory or defeat certain to make a material difference. With thirteen games played, the Steelmen have competed in more than any of the contending clubs. However, the other clubs will have an opportunity to catch up over the coming weekend when Bethlehem will engage with Boston in the final round of the American Soccer League Cup competition for the Lewis trophy. The standing of the teams follows:
