Gotham Booters Win a Title
Rival contenders for the soccer honors in the American and National cup competition and American Soccer League pennant, neither of which was garnered, the New York F. C. finally won a title yesterday by winning the cup of the Southern New York State League. To do so the New Yorkers had to defeat the Wanderers of Brooklyn, a feat accomplished by the score of 3 to 2. The losing team is the club selected to oppose the touring Corinthians when they invade America and incidentally is the only club met in the Metropolitan district by the touring English. At that the New Yorkers are not the only leading Eastern team to be eliminated on the Corinthians' schedule. Bethlehem Steel and Fall River are included among the "unsuccessful" clubs.
