Fall River Off to an Early Start
Some time intervenes before the opening of the American Soccer League season. However, many clubs have laid plans for a series of exhibition games before firing the opening gun in the campaign that has at stake the league championship. Fall River, league champions, launched the season at home on Sunday afternoon with an exhibition tilt against Sam Fletcher's Providence club and inscribed in the record for the coming season victory number one. The League champions, according to their lineup against Providence, is a very much revised club. No less than five newcomers were included in the lineup. The new men were Martin and McGill, fullbacks recently acquired from the Motherwell club; Coyle, a left halfback, and Cook and White, forwards. Harold Brittan, Kerr, Morley and Campbell, a quartet of former Bethlehem Steel stars, are among the players retained for the coming season.
