Another league game of importance equal to that of the visit of Fall River tomorrow will be on tap for local soccer fans on Saturday afternoon when the Steel Workers meet another New England invader. The opponent will be the Shawsheen Club.
Shawsheen is the new member in the league this season, accepted after winning the National Cup tie championship. The newcomers have apparently not slackened in their stride, for until quite recently the club was a topnotch contender for the honors and on a percentage basis, has played better soccer than the present standing indicates. Shawsheen and Bethlehem are linked close together in the league standing and a victory for either one will mean a material boost in their stocks.
While the first visit to Bethlehem, it will not be the first meeting with the Steel Workers. The two clubs clashed in the New England district early in the season and Shawsheen surprised by holding Bethlehem to a draw result. However, the most brilliant accomplishment of Shawsheen was its victory over Fall River, the only club in the circuit to hand the champions a setback. This game coming immediately after the Fall River contest gives the local soccer fans one of the best weekend bills witnessed.
Taylor, the new goalie, who recently joined Bethlehem, will make his home debut in Saturday's game. In the practice he looks the stuff and the management is confident that he will size up to the approval of the fans. Anticipating a hard game against Fall River, several other changes in the lineup for Saturday may see Arthur Robertson relived Bob MacGregor at left halfback and Johnny Jaap at the inside position on the left side of the forward line. The probable lineup will be:
Bethlehem Steel -- Shawsheen F. C.
Taylor -- G -- Murdock
Berryman -- RFB -- Mills
Allen -- LFB -- Turner
McDonald -- RHB -- Watkins
Carnihan -- CHB -- Wilson
Robertson -- LHB -- Evans
Forrest -- OR -- McGowan
Jaap -- IR -- Dixon
Stark -- CF -- Carrie
Rollo -- IL -- Grey
Goldie -- OL -- Cook
