Hard to Believe
Trenton's victory over Newark in the National Cup game on Saturday was without a doubt one of the most drastic upsets in soccer campaigning this season. Scanning the lineup of the Newark team it is found that the personnel comprised the same players who scored four goals against Bethlehem in a game played in New York and in which Bethlehem conquered by the close margin of one point. On the other hand, Trenton fielded a club which Bethlehem on several occasions had no trouble whatever in defeating in exhibition games. Some close students of soccer are partially inclined that there might have been a slight let down on Tom Adams, the guiding genius of the Newark club. Whatever the reason, the score indicates that merit in soccer cannot be established by comparative numerals.
