BETHLEHEM DRAWS IN HOLIDAY SOCCER GAME
Free Kick Paves Way For Hakoah All-Stars to Earn Even Break
EACH SCORES TWO GOALS

Three thousand fans comprised the holiday crowd to see Bethlehem and Hakoah All-Stars play an exciting Washington Birthday league game at Starlight Park, New York, resulting in a draw at two goals each. As a result of the draw Bethlehem dropped from a tie for first place and the position is now undisputed in the possession of the I. R. T. Rangers.

Hakoah uncorked a stinging attack right from the kickoff and drove in shot after shot at the Bethlehem net. Bethlehem broke away occasionally, but the mud and sterling defense of Grosz and Sternberg kept them from scoring.

The Jewish team renewed its savage assaults and forced two corners. From the second cleverly placed by Schwarz, Haeusler whipped the ball into the net far out of McClure’s reach for the first goal. The time was thirty minutes.

Bethlehem lost no time in attempting to catch up and despite many close calls the of Hakoah’s net, had not managed it up to half-time. Eisenhoffer nearly put Hakoah further ahead immediately upon resuming when he broke clean away but drove the ball just over the bar.

Bethlehem equalized soon after when Stark split the Jewish defense wide open to enable Jaap to cash the ball past Fischer with a clever shot.

Rollo put Bethlehem in the lead after Fischer had stopped a stinging shot from Stark, but dropped the muddy ball. Hakoah soon got even when Schwartz drove in a cannonball shot at McClure from a free kick given against McGregor for fouling. The ball fell from the goalie’s hands in front of Grunfeld, who lifted it into the net.

For the rest of the game it was nip and tuck, but the ball could not be driven into the net again. The lineup:
