SCOT SOCCER TEAM JUST WINS IN PHILADELPHIA
Several Local Bethlehem Steel Players on Team that Holds Score to 2-1
NOT SO FAR FROM VICTORY
Losers Outplay Visiting Scotchmen at Several Stages of Game Seen by 6,000

That the players who appeared in the lineup of the All-Philadelphia team to oppose the Third Lanarks in a game at Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon profited by their experience in meeting the Scotchmen in actual hostilities in Bethlehem the Wednesday previous, was evident by the manner in which they thwarted the efforts of the touring clan and if anything not only played equally with the players in the corresponding opposing positions, but at times were superior.

Like in the game in Bethlehem, the Americans' weak point was the inability of the goal keeper to judge the direction of the visitors' shots. Ness replaced Duncan, but his acquisition hardly improved the display given by the veteran Bethlehem goalie, for each of the three shots registered by the Scots were of the savable variety. Most brilliant was the playing of Bethune, whose sensational work was frequently the occasion for an outburst of stirring applause. Murray also played very good soccer.

The lineup:

Scotland -- Bethlehem
Brown -- G -- Ness
McCormack -- RFB -- Bethune
Orr -- LFB -- Ferguson
Scott -- RHB -- Murray
Brown -- CHB -- Rutherford
McAndrews -- LHB -- Porter
Thompson -- OR -- Andrews
Rankin -- IR -- Morley
Wilson -- CF -- Brittan
Maxwell -- IL -- J. McGhee
Low -- OL -- B. McGhee
Goals: Andrews, Rankin, Wilson, 2. Time of halves, 45 minutes.
